Effects of Social Media on Indian Youth

How it Started & How it's going

The words DP, status, selfie, tweet, reels, WhatsApp, posts were not even in our dictionary a few years ago. We would all be laughing if someone told us 10 years ago that our generation, would not tell anyone about their personal life, would suddenly shout out to the whole world through social media what vegetable they made today, and where they are eating today.

Social Media

Suddenly it became important. Until yesterday, the secrets which were kept in the heart began to come out in the form of a blog. Social media has made many people think that we are actors /artists /singers /writers /bloggers /Digital creators or many others in the world. This should be a good thing to gain confidence. But that popularity is fleeting because it's just a matter of a few likes. Now those who ‘like’ your photos, videos (even without watching it often) are liking something else the next moment. Half an hour ago something different was happening, now something different!

What is important?

It is a worry for the majority of the individuals in these days and age as what is more significant?

Followers on social sites

Is the worry with "Facebook" companions more significant than those with whom we are collaborating up close and personal in our every day lives? What can be the drawn-out effect of online media on youth today?
Are the Instagram followers are going to help in your life, rather than your true friends?

This is the result of a life-threatening competition. But my observation is that people who are constantly on social media are becoming more and more lonely. When you see a photo of one of your friends (virtually) eating and drinking inexpensive restaurants, you think to yourself, I will post my photo someday. Wherever we go, before we can enjoy the place, the thing we want to do, we start to feel that we should share photos of it first.

Nowadays, most of the people wanted to go with the trends. If someone asks what's the meaning of trend? Then surely nobody can answer it with satisfaction. Because what the other people are doing in their lives, just we are copying them. For example, people are sharing their photos with friends & followers. It's okay. But now people don't want to show their faces, they just pretending like taking a selfie with a brand company phone & showing it to the world that look I am using this XYZ brand. Seriously?? I will give one suggestion to those addicted people, don't show your brands, Be a Brand!

Positive Side

As indicated by a review, it has been discovered that about 59% of the schools have conceded that their studies take help of the online media for educational purposes. Alongside it, half of them utilize online media to examine the tasks of the school.

Positive side

The clients of Facebook have shared that they get the motivation to cast a vote in a political decision when they see online their companions have cast a vote as well. An overview announced that the individuals who visited Facebook multiple occasions in a solitary day were bound to go to a political rally, 43% more individuals said that they make certain to cast a vote.

Over half of individuals on the planet these days get the breaking news from a social media stage. The individuals who utilize the foundation of social media get engaged and educated to change their networks and themselves.

Negative Side

In social media, we can just observe the virtual side of the individual. This implies we can just observe the side which they wanted to show us. Most of the individuals attempt to depict themselves to others which they are not in their real life.

Ban on social applications

Talking about the addiction of social applications, recently Indian government ban one app named as Tiktok. I guess that was a right move by the government because most of the youth were wasting their time in that app. If one got talent, they should show to their audience. But apps like tiktok, one can't find useful & that's why it's banned.

The effects can sometimes be positive and sometimes be negative but mostly they are negative if it is not integrated with a business or professional goals, that's what I feel.

Rise of alternatives

Indian government wanted to make sure that youth shouldn't be diverted in the wrong path. That's why they take some decisions to ban useless applications & games. But still, One game is replaced by another game & one application is replaced by another application.

World of hashtags

By selling the same things, people will make you fool. The mentality of Indian youth is still not concentrated on things which was a dream of The Great Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Sir. Youth just wanted to get famous in a short time & that's the main reason they don't succeed. By using the hashtag, by making Tiktok, by making trends, by using reels you can't get rid of failure. Somehow, if you are having your business, then it will be profitable for you to use hashtags & all these social things.

My experience

I also used social media & I also got addicted to it to some extent. But I tried to use less time for these things, rather I should be more concerned about my life & not the others. Once I lost a good friendship because of the misunderstanding of social media. That's why usually I don't take it seriously now.

My dear friends, I am not teaching & not giving any knowledge to anyone. But that's the sad truth of Indian youth. I just express in some words. The great Late Balasaheb Thackeray Ji once said in an interview, "When I draw a cartoon, people just laugh on it or tries to make sense of it. But as an artist I can understand what is hidden in every line of that cartoon & I can see all the perspectives of it." Similarly, I can see the side effects of social media on youth, so use it for your use only.

Thank You !!!
