Reality of Online Education in India

Am I audible? Is my screen visible? This has become a typical scenario since lockdown post-COVID-19 when conversing with anybody in online learning.

Online education

With the school closed due to the lockdown, many people from big cities have reached their village with their children. However, parents are worried as schools have started offering online education. Students are finding it difficult to attend online classes as there is no mobile network in the villages. Even if you get a range at some point, there is no guarantee that it will last until the class is completed. So often the study has to be left incomplete. Apart from this, there are many other problems. This situation is not unique to the village. Students in a metropolitan city like Mumbai are also facing many such problems.

Our online teaching framework was never proficient even in the best of times. The COVID-19 pandemic has delivered it incredibly one-sided and flawed.

Lack of Educational Environment

The significance of an institutional climate can't be overemphasized when one considers web-based education. In any event, students establish a climate that boosts their development ethically, socially and mentally in discussions and collaborations with one another. The online method of educating abandoned this chance.

Educational Environment

Physically, in the face to face conversation, both teachers & students are comfortable. They can understand each other very well. Teachers can easily find what the students exactly doing in their studies & what the things are going in their minds. On other hands, students also get some knowledge & feel of that particular subject. But if we talk about online lectures, there is a lack of conversation.

New experience to Teachers

A few teachers shared their experience, how they feel when they have to teach in front of their family. They said, We are attempting to teach on another medium and we are being watched by guardians and other relatives continually. We need to ensure we don't commit any errors, which is conceivable.

Teachers fear

New platforms like Microsoft teams, Google Meet, Zoom etc were the biggest challenge in front of Teachers. Yes, it was a challenge for them, because as a student it's very easy to join the class & listen to them. But it's very difficult to use those mediums to explain the things & concepts to students. In India, still, there are so many network issues, so it leads to technical issues in the lectures. It's not so easy, because every teacher is not familiar with the technology. Still, they managed to teach via online mode.

Good Things

Online education takes into consideration picking up something grow with the standard. A student approaches limitless themes and worldwide educators in speciality subjects. Online projects permit individuals of a wide age gathering to learn at their own, without any restraints, and without settling on their different obligations.

This is empowering. Students can access unlimited study materials for their studies. They got to know about global things. It saves their time & nowadays all work is done on online mode. Home Assignments, tests are going easy to the students with access to the internet.

Bad Things

Non-verbal communication and eye to eye connection, which are significant signals for the teacher, are hard to see in an online class. I don't get any response from students during lectures which decreases the interest of teaching, says a school teacher in past.

Indirect communication

Indeed, even College professor feels that the in-class actual learning experience is good, significantly more than a virtual one. Many recognize that telephones can be very diverting. While teaching from mobiles, notifications comes in between lectures. It creates misunderstanding. This part of learning is seriously confusing in online education.

Misunderstanding between Students & Teachers

In traditional teaching & learning process, teachers are very familiar with face to face teaching. They can teach & educate students with clearing their concepts. But in online mode, sometimes it may happen that with the time constraints of online applications teachers may forget to clear the doubts. Then students get frustrated & following that their interest in learning decreases day by day.

Misunderstanding between Students & Teachers

In this modern era, it may possible that students are having a good knowledge of technology than the teachers. So some times if a student suggests teacher go with their opinion. Some teachers think that the students are disrespecting them. They think that students shouldn't teach us because we are teachers. So, this ego problem comes between the students & teachers relation. Teachers also faced the same problem, if they are teaching with full enthusiasm, students should respect it. Because some students are taking online lectures as just timepass. We should accept one reality that education runs on the collaboration of both the teachers & students.

Difficult to understand each subject

On the off chance that one sees recordings of showing maths, science, history and the English language, one can barely try not to see issues with them. In the science and mathematics recordings, specifically, there are numerous misguided judgments and ambiguities. Students were not able to understand & teachers were not able to teach. Subjects like engineering mathematics, engineering mechanics, SOM TOM etc are hard to study in class, how can students study online for those subjects??

Difficult to understand each subject

At last, education isn't just about subject information yet additionally about creating social aptitudes and sportsmanship among the students, which is worked over years. Depending exclusively on online training may block all improvement of kids, and many may fail to meet expectations later in their expert and individual lives.

As soon as the covid 19 effects reduced, the government should consider reopening the school & colleges. Because with this type of education, no one will survive in future. Online education helps to deteriorate the standard of education in India. Firstly, India should develop the online education system, then it's more convenient for people. One thing is very clear online education can't replace the traditional education.

Thank You !!!
